Pierre Soulages (1919 – 2022)
Painting 50,5 x 83 cm – june 13 1991

The French painter Pierre Soulages, who died at 102 years old, is well-known for his paintings that feature an infinite number of shades of black. “I love the authority of black, its gravitas, its obviousness, its radical nature (…) Black offers an endless amount of possibilities.”
