All civilizations around the world have always regarded painting and sculpture as important major arts.
During the reigns of kings of France Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI, and more specifically in Paris, furniture also became a major art form.
During the 18th century, artists and craftsmen created masterpieces. For over 100 years, cabinetmakers, joiners, bronzemakers and large-scale manufactories have taken part in the exceptional craft of furniture-making.
Genius designers such as Boulle, Cressent, BVRB, Riesener, Jacob, Carlin and many others have created new pieces of furniture, such as the chest of drawers, the desk, the bonheur du jour, or the easy to move flying furniture.
The Age of Enlightenment, which was made possible by the French royal family and its entourage, contributed to France’s greatness. Galerie Kraemer have followed in their steps by offering the greatest masterpieces of the 18th century.
The Gallery was the first to organize an exhibition about the famous cabinetmaker Riesener.
