The French artist Georges Jacob and the American artist Rashid Johnson were born four centuries apart, yet they unknowingly worked together to create this original selection, which is displayed in our Gallery.
The cabinetmaker Georges Jacob worked for Queen Marie-Antoinette, King Louis XVI and his brother, the Comte d’Artois.
Georges Jacob was commissioned by royals and became famous across Europe
Between these two chairs hangs a brilliant composition made by Rashid Johnson.
In each of his works of art, the Chicagoan artist aimed to tell his personal story and the story of the African-American community.
His works of art are displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and in the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.
